I've always loved this type of close-up, dog-nose shot. They're so cute. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my dog to cooperate; until I got a doggy bone, that is. Then he sat patiently while I took his picture.

Jake CloseUp
This is one of my first tries at black and white, and I must say that, personally, I love it. The color version had all kinds of awful distractions that just aren't present in the black and white version. The only thing I did was color the eyes, which I think works well.

Ostrich
Today's photo excursion was rather fruitless. The only thing I liked was this shot of an ostrich which was at a farm not too far from my house. Very strange birds, ostriches.
Squirrel 4
I was rather surprised by these squirrels which were living in some rocks not ten feet from the water. I hope they don't have trouble during high tide.
Cormorant
There were a bunch of these cormorants in Berkely, and they really are cool birds. This particular one wasn't in the water, but a lot of them were diving.
Walking
Well, a sore throat, fever, and no particular lack of schoolwork has kept me from taking many pictures. Yesterday, however, my dad and I went to Berkely and walked around by the bay.

Black Bird
Yesterday, my dad and I met a friend of mine over in San Francisco. We had a great time walking around Golden Gate Park taking pictures. This picture is from that excursion. The four that I'm about to post are as well.

Avocet
This avocet was at the Palo Alto Baylands. There were a number of them is this one little pond area. Their curved beaks are very strange looking, especially when they're open.
Squirrel 2
I turned away from all the neat birds at the Palo Alto Baylands for just a moment to shoot this little squirrel who had just darted across the path. He was just sitting there watching one of the birds a ways off.

Flower
This is another picture from Napa today. My dad likes to do a lot of close up flower shots (the link to his blog is on the right), and I decided to try one out.
Water Stream
Today I was in Napa taking pictures and I came upon a fountain. It had a little stream of water that was separate from the main fountain and I decided to try to freeze it in action.

Flying Duck
I was going to try to catch this duck in flight. My dad and I got so close to it that we thought it would simply ignore us. When it finally did take off, I got this great shot.
Egret 2
This egret was in a tree at the Bay Lands. All the birds there were constantly flying around. Many of them would land only to take off again a short time later. This one is either landing or taking off.
Squirrel
This was a funny squirrel that I spotted at the Bay Lands. It was inside of a bush and kept poking its head out to nibble the flowers.
Egret
Alright, time for some more catch up. Today, my dad and I went to the Palo Alto Bay Lands. There were tons of birds there, including a number of Egrets such as this one, which kept flying over our heads. It was picking up twigs in one place, then bringing them back to construct its nest in another.

Waterfall
This fountain in a nearby business park was kinda boring. When the water is frozen in time like this, though, you can see an interesting pattern in the ripples. I thought it was pretty cool.
Old Man Sea
This is one I shot at central park. I just got a 20D, so I wanted to play with it. I took a lot of shots trying to freeze the water in place. Most came out really well, but I found a face in this one and thought it was cool.
View
It's been a while since I posted (A week, I believe). Anyway, I'm gonna catch up pretty soon. Here's a shot from a few days ago.

Falling Behind
I haven't posted in a few days now, but I'm still dedicated to doing a photo a day. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take many photos recently, and I haven't even found much time to work on older photos. I hope to post at least one photo tomorrow, and eventually will catch up with the days I have fallen behind on.

Jack
Well, I haven't been out to take pictures during the last few days. This is another one from the car show on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get out and take some pictures tomorrow.

Sunrise
Well, I was busy again today, so here's another picture from a few days ago. This is the sunrise I shot on Saturday.

Agave
I don't have time to take any photos today, so this is a picture I took earlier this month. It's an interesting looking plant, an agave, which I saw while on a walk in my neighborhood.

Plymouth
Today I went to a car show. I'm not very interested in cars, but I did get quite a few interesting shots. This is one of them.

Dew
Today, my dad and I walked to a nearby park to catch the sunrise. I got a few good shots of the sunrise, but I ended up liking this better.

Osprey Takeoff
Today's picture is one I took last Saturday. I'm not going to have time to take any pictures today, and I have been wanting to do something with this shot. I caught the Osprey right as he was preparing to take off.

Bee
Today's picture was shot in my own front yard. I was really pleased at how sharp the bee came out, especially since I wasn't using a macro lens.

Hawk
Well, this wasn't intended to be a bird photo blog, but it's turning out that way. I do take pictures of other things, honest, but today's haul wasn't very good, so this is what you get.

Landing
Well, this photo is actually one I took today. It was at the same place as yesterday's photo, but I got much better in-air shots of the ducks today. This one was landing near me, probably seeking free food.

Duck
Well, yesterday's photo excursion didn't prove as successful as Saturday's. However, I did like a few of the shots I got of some ducks. This was one of many that came right up to me, obviously expecting food.

Osprey
Yesterday, my dad and I drove out to Napa in the morning to take pictures of the vineyards, hot air balloons, fog etc.
What we didn't expect to see was this Osprey, which I glimpsed as we drove around Lake Hennessey. We quickly made a U-turn and came back to it.
It wasn't until later, viewing the pictures on a computer, that we realized that he was holding a half-eaten fish.

The Penguin Lives
Well, this is just the first post. I plan to post one picture a day, but I can't guarantee I'll keep up. If I fall behind, I'll post enough to make up for it. Right now, this is basically just a way to get my pictures on the web and give people a chance to take a look at what I can do.
